Origins: Brazil — Carmo de Minas, Minas Gerais

Pulped Natural Yellow Bourbon, Yellow

Catucai, Icatu, Acaia, Mundo Novo

Jose Antonio Pereira Carneiro is the patriarch of the Pereira family and co-owner of Fazenda Serrado. Not to be confused with the Brazilian coffee growing region Cerrado, Fazenda Serrado is a beautiful farm in Carmo de Minas which is positioned with good altitude and rainfall for producing great quality coffee. Brazil is always one of our most popular origins because they are approachable, easy drinking coffees that everyone can enjoy.

Pulped Natural Process falls in between washed and natural processes in terms of both flavor and method. The skin of the coffee cherry is removed and the beans are left with some fruit mucilage and are immediately put out to dry. The results can vary from a more intensely fruited cup to a brighter, juicier cup. Usually, pulped natural coffees will have less acidity than washed process but more than natural process.

Yellow Bourbon, Yellow Catucai, Icatu, Acaia and Mundo Novo are all fairly common varieties grown in Brazil. In recent years there has been a good deal of experimentation with growing different varieties in Brazil with yellow varieties doing particularly well as they display more sweetness than their red counterparts.
